El Vasco Aguirre is back but this march to the World Cup will be different than he has experienced before. With Mexico being a host, there wont be any World Cup Qualifiers and it will be tough to find high quality opponents who wont be busy with their own qualifiers.

For the first time since November 2014, Mexico is on its way to Europe for a couple of friendlies. This time around it will be Belgium (FIFA rank: 5) and Poland (FIFA rank: 6). El Tri rarely leave the friendly and lucrative confines of the US for friendlies and this will present Osorio with a good chance to see his squad against top teams. The base for his 2018 squad should be clear but there are still spots up for grabs and it would be a good idea to give some players a chance to play. With the squad announced, let’s see if Osorio had any surprises up his sleeves….

Ricardo ‘Tuca’ Ferreti has released his roster for the upcoming September friendlies against Trinidad and Tobago and Argentina. The talk immediately turned to the absence of usual starter Guillermo Ochoa, as well as the Dos Santos brothers. While Ochoa is likely to be out due to lack of playing time, the Dos Santos brothers being left out feels odd. They were seen as bright spots this summer. Gio is also having an incredible debut season for LA Galaxy despite only having been with the team for about a month. There is chatter that this may be due to tweets made by them about Piojo’s firing. With the Dos Santos brothers missing, here is my starting lineup prediction.

Mexico has released it’s u22 squad that will be competing in September friendlies as they prepare for Olympic qualifying. The squad will take on Pumas (9/4), Panama U22 (9/6), and Cruz Azul (9/8). Camp begins 8/31 and will be led by Raul Gutierrez. The squad is fresh off of a 2nd place finish at the Panamerican Games in Toronto.
