It was a nervy start for El Tri. Which seems to be the standard for friendlies w/new players adapting to Piojo’s system. The new guys had to adapt to the 3 man backline since all 3 play with 4 in the back at their clubs. I think they did well after a shaky start and the backline was solid after the first 20 or so minutes. While I don’t agree fully with Piojo’s assessment of his new look back 3, they improved as the game went along.

The October friendlies are upon us and Mexico will actually play them in Mexico. Just how rare is a Mexico game in the country of Mexico?
Game vs. Honduras is El Tri’s second friendly in the Mexico in the past 2 years, compared to 12 in the United States in that time.

As I watched El Grito de Dolores on TV last night, it got me thinking about my proudest moment as a fan of El Tri. My mind quickly went to the 2012 Olympic tournament. More specifically, the magical Gold medal game against Brasil.

Club soccer is back on in Europe. There are plenty of Mexicans expected to suit up for their clubs. Gone are the days of being happy to have a Mexican just make the bench. Lets see when these games kick off..

I was excited for this match but expected an uneven performance with the squad Piojo picked. What did we get? An uneven performance. I think several players had good games and helped their standing with the national teams, but the team was unable to finish the chances created. Overall, these 2 games did their job: provided glimpses of players for Piojo’s next 11.
