The summer transfer window is winding down but as is usually the case, rumors and moves are ramping up. Our Mexicans Abroad are no exception.
- Guillermo Ochoa was rumored to be going to Napolis for weeks but Standard Liege was fighting for a Champions League spot. This complicated any deal as Standard was hoping to keep Memo for their playoff versus Ajax. With Standard losing to Ajax this week, many were hoping the deal would finally be completed. Unfortunately, that does not look like it will happen. The transfer window is open until Friday in Italy.
- Omar Govea might be coming back to Belgium but with a new club. The former Club America youth player is in the final stages of finalizing a loan from Porto to play with Royal Antwerp this upcoming season. They finished in 8th place last season, 6 spots ahead of Mouscron, Govea’s club last season. If the move is finalized, Omar should be another chance to be a starter and hopefully develop enough to get a look with Porto next year.
- Marco Fabian has 1 year left on his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt but there has been talks of an extension. In my season preview, I had Fabian being a big contributor to a depleted Frankfurt midfield. However, a new rumor has Besiktas interested in buying him. Unless Frankfurt bring in another midfield, I doubt there is any legs to this rumor.
- Diego Reyes still has not signed with any club. He is currently enjoying being unemployed.
