The European club season is winding down and the World Cup is finally on the horizon. With this being an international break, I figured it would be a good time to see how our Mexicans Abroad have been performing. I didnt include MLS players because their season just started a couple weeks ago.

A couple things that stood out to me:

  • Raul Jimenez keeps performing quite well even if he only ever gets short shifts of playing time. He is averaging less than 27 minutes per appearance this season for Benfica but is involved in a goal every 88 minutes.
  • Chicharito has 7 EPL goals on 14 SOT this season. He is only averaging 1.6 shots per 90 minutes for a struggling West Ham squad. For comparisons sake, Jimenez is averaging over 4 shots per 90 minutes. It is the lowest of his career, even lower than the last time Moyes was his manager. Seems to me Moyes cannot get the best out of Chicharito…
  • Hector Herrera is back. He is having a really good bounce back year at Porto. El Zorillo has been all over the field and contributing more on the offense end than in years past. WhoScored has him as the 7th highest rated player in the Portuguese league. I’m really hoping he can continue this form with El Tri this summer in Russia.
