A Key Pass is defined as a pass that leads to a shot on goal by a teammate. In this post, I am trying to lead the reader to some good soccer content. There is so much going on that it is easy to miss. I hope to do these a few times a week. I will gladly take any suggestions if you find something cool online, send it my way. Whether its a nice kit from an obscure team or a golazo in a random college soccer game.
Mexico
- Great read by Cesar Martinez on how LigaMX are handling their youngsters. Should Lainez and other young national teamers head to Europe asap?
- Rafa recaps week 14 of LigaMX action.
- Over in the UK, the Mirror is reporting Matias Almeyda is a contender for the Leicester City job. I don’t see Almeyda making the jump from LigaMX to the Premier League now and it would be a mistake for Chivas to fire him right now. But the club cannot guarantee he will stay.
- Aviles Hurtado for El Tri? Nayib seems to think it could happen. The Colombian could apply to FIFA to switch national team allegiances early next year.
- For all the hardcore LigaMX/National Team fans, I suggest you check this thread out. It’s a great project by reddit user u/jpl0110 that chronicles the playing time of U23 players in the league.
Mexicans Abroad
- Everton fired their coach. It might be odd to place this under “Mexicans Abroad” but Everton were after Raul Jimenez this Summer. Benfica’s price tag was too high and Raul is stuck
- Junior Maleck keeps scoring goals. He is now up to 7 goals in 10 games with Porto. He is currently on loan but there is a buy option. This is the 3rd time Porto has taken on a young Mexican on loan with a buy option. The Portuguese giants bought the first two ( Raul Gudino and Omar Govea) and chances are they will buy this one.
- West Ham appear to be sticking with Bilic but he is definitely on a short leash. Chicharito has 3 goals in 9 games for the Hammers with his last goal coming a month ago.
Around The World
- FIFA and FIFPro named their World 11 and it is heavy on Barca/Real Madrid players. It also marks the 11 straight year Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi are in the World 11. Oh, CR7 also won Men’s Player of the Year. Bofo was probably a close runner up…
- Aviles Hurtado was up for Goal of the Year but lost to Olivier Giroud and his scorpion kick golazo.
- Guardado’s vote for POTY: Ronaldo, Messi, & Buffon. Osorio’s vote: Ronaldo, Vidal, & Marcelo.
- AC Milan and Adidas have terminated their partnership. This current deal started in 1998 and has seen plenty of classic kits. My money is on the big offer from Nike but they will officially announce a new deal in the coming months.
What to Watch
- There are 4 Copa MX games tonight: Morelia/Xolos, Toluca/Atlante, America/Cruz Azil, and Leon/Queretaro.
- The World Series starts tonight: Dodgers vs Astros. You can watch the game or just follow @TheStrayGoat as he will live tweet his feelings.
Thoughts? World Series predictions?
