Layun Signing With Watford

Done with my winter break. I figured since most European leagues took a break, I should too. Below is the Euro schedule for this weekend. Another thing to keep an eye on is LigaMX. The new season kicks off this weekend.

SATURDAY

Real Madrid v Espanyol- 9:00AM– Los Blancos are slumping hard. That unbeaten streak is long forgotten. Ancelotti will look toward his first teamers to try and bust out. Unfortunately that group does not included Chicharito. Hector Moreno needs to string some strong performances

Watford v Huddersfield Town- 9:00AM– Might be too early for Layun to see the field but Watford need to win games like this against teams in the bottom third of the table. Some in Mexico have criticized his move but Watford fans seem to think he can help them earn promotion into the EPL.

Villarreal v Malaga- 11:00AM– Gio seems like he is on the verge of breaking through and scoring his first league goal. He keeps finding himself in the right spots but can’t seem to put the ball in the back of the net.

FC Porto v Belenenses- 2:15PM– Hector Herrera’s club is 6 points behind league leader Benfica. He will factor into their push toward the top but the same can’t be said about Diego Reyes. So many rumors of him leaving on a loan in January. This will be win win for club and county. Mexico needs him playing regular minutes and Porto need him to show them why they spent millions on him.

SUNDAY

Hellas Verona v Parma-8:00AM– Rafa missed Verona’s last game due to yellow card accumulation. He will start against Parma on Sunday.

Real Sociedad v Granada- 12:00PM– David Moyes has Real Sociedad playing much better since taking over. But even his magic cannot outweigh the impact of Carlos Vela. Sociedad struggles creating goal scoring chances when he is on the sidelines.

Barcelona v Atletico Madrid- 2:00PM- Barcelona seems to going through a lot as a club but Atletico will not take it easy. Raul Jimenez has more competition for playing time with Fernando Torres coming back to Atletico. This season he has played nearly 600 minutes but has only rewarded Cholo with 1 goal. Cholo has said all the right things about Raul but Jimenez needs to produce.

MONDAY

Rayo Vallecano v Cordoba- 1:45PM– The rollercoaster season for Aquino continues. The manager wants more from him but he has yet to deliver since the first couple games of the season.

TUESDAY

Malaga v Levante- 3:00PM–  Memo has only played for Malaga in Copa Del Rey matches. Look for him to start this match, it might be his last for Malaga before being sold later this month.
