Mexicans Abroad Recap – 8/25

Lets check on our Mexicans Abroad as European leagues are in full swing.

Serie A

Santiago Gimenez (AC Milan): Not the best start to the league for AC Milan. They lost 2-1 to newly promoted Cremonese and Gimenez had 2 chances all game: one he whiffed on and the other..

In other Santi news, Victor Boniface “failed” his medical and looks to head back to Bayer Leverkusen. There is still time in the window and allegedly bringing in another striker is important. Santi needs to step up his level of play to stay as Milan’s #1 striker.

Johan Vasquez (Genoa): He captained Genoa in their 0-0 draw and went 90 minutes playing his usual LCB position.

English Premier League

Raul Jimenez (Fulham): Came off the bench for a 20 minute cameo in Fulham’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

Julian Araujo (Bournemouth): Stayed on the bench for the 2nd straight game. However, reports out of Spain have Matias Almeyda’s Sevilla interested in bringing him back to Spain.

Edson Alvarez (West Ham Fenerbahce): Has officially moved to Fenerbahce on a loan with an option to buy.

Belgium Pro League

Cesar Huerta (Anderlecht): no game over the weekend.

Heriberto Jurado (Cercle Brugge): Did not make the bench and did not make the roster for the next U20 camp with Mexico. Unsure why as Carrillo did not get called up either.

Netherlands

Mateo Chavez (AZ Alkmaar): no game over the weekend.

Stephano Carrillo (FC Dordrecht):

La Liga

Alex Padilla (Athletic Bilbao): Has made the bench for both La Liga games this season. Should get a look in cup games but Bilbao does not join copa del rey until October.

The Rest

Orbelin Pineda (AEK): Pineda went the full 90, playing in a deeper playmaking role. Next for him and AEK is the2nd leg of Conference League playoff versus Anderlecht.

Rodrigo Huescas (Copenhagen): Went the full 90 as Copenhagen stays at the top of the league. Their attention is now on their mid-week game versus Basel to decide who makes the Champions League group stage and who does the same in the Europa League.

Cesar Montes (FC Lokomotiv Moscow): A rough 3-3 draw for Moscow saw them drop to 3rd in the league. Montes played the full 90 and could do little to hold on to their 2 goal lead.

Luis Chavez (FC Dynamo): He suffered a long term injury (torn ACL) this summer and is in a race to get healthy before the World Cup.

Julian Quinones (Al-Qadsiah): no game over the weekend. Opens league play this upcoming weekend
