Weekend Preview: 4/30

La Liga race will be the one to watch over the remaining couple weeks of the European season. Hector Herrera might play a role in deciding the winner as Simeone keeps using him as a starter for Atletico Madrid. He’s not the only one playing for something as the season winds down.

  • Diego Lainez and Andres Guardado helped out Herrera by holding Real Madrid to a point last weekend. The Mexican duo will look to solidify their Europa League spot against Real Valladolid on Sunday.
  • Gerardo Arteaga begins the playoff portion of his season with a league title and Champions League spot on the line.
  • The league race is over for Napoli and Hirving Lozano but they are still in a prime position for a Champions League spot. They play a relegation candidate this weekend and might feel the need to improve their Goal Difference for any potential tie breaker.
  • I still wouldn’t count on Raul Jimenez playing for Mexico this summer but this is another encouraging sign for him.
  • Edson Alvarez will join a few other Mexicans who have won the Eredivisie title if Ajax can manage at least a draw this weekend.

  • Eugenio Pizzuto with some minutes in France…. but it was for Lille’s B team. Nevertheless, I will take it.

What are you watching this weekend??
